The final vote on the third reading of the Appropriation Bill (Budget) for next year (2022) will be taken up in Parliament today (10) at 5.00 pm, the Department of Parliamentary Communications said.
The vote on the third reading of the budget will take place after 28 days of lengthy debate.
Basil Rajapaksa, Minister of Finance presented the Second Reading of the Appropriation Bill (Budget Speech) for the financial year 2022 in Parliament on November 12.
Thereafter, the second reading debate of the budget commenced on the 13th of last month and lasted for seven days. The second reading of the budget was passed by a majority of 93 votes.
Thereafter, the Committee Stage Debate on the Budget which commenced on November 23 will conclude today.
It is reported that the leaders of the ruling party and the opposition have informed their MPs to stay in Colombo today as the final vote on the budget is being held.
It is reported that the security arrangements in the parliament have been tightened today due to the final vote on the budget.
