The positions belonging to the political committee of the Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna have been appointed today.
That is without the post of national organizer.
The position of national organizer of the Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna was previously held by the founder of the party, Mr. Basil Rajapaksa.
Party members say that even though the political committee was appointed today, the reason for leaving the post of national organizer vacant is because Mr. Basil Rajapaksa said that a young leader should be appointed for it.
At the National Convention of the party held yesterday at the Sugathadasa Indoor Stadium in Colombo, steps were taken to re-appoint former President Mahinda Rajapaksa to the leadership of the party.
Accordingly, the members of the Podujana Peramuna said that they will discuss with the party leader about the position of national organizer of the party, which is currently vacant, and make the appointment.
