    Another Big-brain person has been arrested regarding Harakkata’s drug Trafficking

    The Police Narcotics Bureau has arrested a leading boatman who was transporting narcotics from the high seas to Harakkata, a drug smuggler hiding in the United Arab Emirates.

    This boatman, a resident of Kottegoda, was arrested yesterday (03).

    Investigations have revealed that after John placed orders from UAE with Pakistani drug traffickers, the Iranians brought the narcotics in a small ship to the international waters near Sri Lanka. Then this boatman who was arrested yesterday had gone to the international waters and taken the drugs and brought them ashore.

    The Police Narcotics Bureau revealed that the boatman had brought more than 100 kilos of Harakkata’s narcotics ashore in a multi – day trawler on May 30. Following a lengthy investigation, six persons aboard the multi-day trawler that had gone to international waters with the boatman and received the consignment of narcotics had been arrested earlier. The suspect had been in hiding at the time and was able to be arrested yesterday.

    Investigations have revealed that for going to the international border to pick up the narcotics and bring them ashore, he and his crew received nearly Rs. 10MN. Officers of the Police Narcotics Bureau have found Rs. 5.2 million of that money hidden in a house in Kottegoda. Police Media Spokesman Senior DIG Attorney-at-Law Ajith Rohana stated that information has come to light that this person is a multi-day vessel operator and that he had driven the vessel that day.

    Investigations have revealed that a consignment of drugs called ice had been brought ashore on May 30. Ajith Rohana further stated that the Police Narcotics Bureau is conducting investigations to find more suspects in connection with this drug network.
