Mr. Arjuna Ranatunga, Chairman of the New Interim Committee of Cricket, says that he will build the cricket game in the country with the current national team in Sri Lanka.

Speaking to the media, the chairman said that his focus is on cricket and other members of the committee will deal with administration.

He says that his primary task is to make cricket a brand in Sri Lanka and create a group of players who love the country.

Meanwhile, Sports Minister Roshan Ranasinghe says that cricket should be put in a position to win matches again very soon.

Speaking to the media, the minister stated that the primary objective of appointing the interim committee is to investigate the frauds and corruptions that have taken place so far and to stabilize the game and return to the rhythm of victories soon.

The minister also said that sub-committees were appointed for administration, cricket development and law and gave instructions to the chairman to carry out further work.

The sports minister said that the most suitable person has been appointed as the chairman of the interim committee and it is expected that the other members will work to fulfill their role.

“I think the right person has been appointed as the chairman of this committee. Also, two Supreme Court judges and a High Court judge have been appointed to investigate the irregularities that occurred in the past period.

“The first thing is to overcome the challenge of playing cricket and moving forward again. Posts have been given to the deserving. I hope the people of this country will agree with me.” Mr. Ranasinghe added.

It was reported that President Ranil Wickramasinghe stated in front of the Ministers this morning (05) that neither the government nor he knows anything about the appointment of an interim committee for Sri Lanka Cricket.
