About 2,000 children are currently on waiting lists for heart surgery, according to Lady Ridgeway Hospital for Children.
Its Director, Dr. G. Wijesuriya states that the medical staff of the hospital’s cardiology unit is working to perform 05 heart surgeries each day.
Dr. G Wijesuriya stated that despite the dedication of the health staff, it has not been possible to increase the number of surgeries due to the inadequacy of the existing physical facilities.
