Electricity generated from the Uma Oya project is set to be added to the national system in September.
Farab, the construction company of the Uma Oya Multi-Purpose Irrigation Facility, has announced that Unit 1 of the Uma Oya Hydropower Plant can be supplied to the Electricity Board from August 2023.
The company has also stated that Unit 2 will be able to generate electricity by September 2023.
A total of 120 megawatts of hydropower is to be added to the national grid.
The Managing Director of Farab Company, Dr. Ali Wakili, the Uma Oya Project Manager and representatives of Farab Company have informed this when they met Minister Kanchana Wijesekera at the Ministry of Power and Energy yesterday (18).
