    Global environmental experts begin work on damage assessment of Express Pearl

    Four experts from the United Nations Environment Program (UNEP) who arrived in Sri Lanka today (19) are conducting a preliminary investigation into the damage assessment and recovery process of the MV Express Pearl, which sank off near the coast of Colombo.

    Minister of State for Urban Development, Coast Conservation, Waste Disposal and Community Sanitation Nalaka Godahewa stated that a discussion on this was held at the Uswetakeiyawa beach today (19).

    The United Nations Environment Program (UNEP) is a leading global environmental authority that sets the global environmental agenda, promotes the systematic implementation of the environmental dimension of sustainable development within the United Nations system, and serves as an authorized advisor to the global environment.
