    The opposition leader questions the terms agreed upon when the IMF loan was approved

    Will the Parliament be presented this week on the conditions that Sri Lanka has to agree to in obtaining the International Monetary Fund’s Extended Fund Facility? When is its effective date? Opposition Leader Sajith Premadasa asks.

    The leader of the opposition asked this in 19 questions while attending the parliamentary session.

    The opposition leader also inquired about the date of the local government election.

    Speaker of the House, Minister of Education Mr. Susil Premjayantha announced in the Parliament that since the 19 questions presented by the Leader of the Opposition are related to the Ministry of Finance, the Ministry of Defense and several other ministries, they will be answered within this week.

    Meanwhile, The proposal presented by the President as the Minister of Finance, Economic Stabilization, and National Policy to enter into related agreements for budget financing during the period 2023-2026 to obtain a credit facility equal to US$ 2.3 billion Special Drawing Rights (SDR) for a 48-month program under the International Monetary Fund’s Extended Fund Facility has been approved by the Cabinet of Ministers.
