    The President plans to expand fuel distribution in the country

    President Ranil Wickramasinghe said that the formal program for the expansion of petroleum distribution will be started soon.

    The President mentioned this in the meeting with representatives of the Sinopec Group held at the President’s Office yesterday morning (13).

    The representatives of the Sinopec Group said that their organization is ready to invest in the import, storage, distribution and sale of fuel for the needs of Sri Lanka.

    The representatives who stated that their organization has applied for that purpose in accordance with the existing system, informed the President that his organization is ready to make the full investment required to build a refinery yard in Hambantota which the government has identified as a primary energy hub.

    Additionally, the company representatives expressed their readiness to participate in forthcoming bids per the country’s goals and aspirations.

    The delegation of Sinopec, who spoke about the import, storage and distribution of petroleum products, also presented the relevant proposal to the President.

    President Ranil Wickramasinghe, who commented on the occasion, further stated that Sri Lanka expects rapid development after the program carried out with the International Monetary Fund.

    The President also said that he hopes to encourage foreign businesses operating in this country in the future.
