Mr. Joe Biden, the American President, states that he expects to further strengthen and expand the bilateral relations between Sri Lanka and the United States.
The US President has mentioned this while congratulating President Ranil Wickremesinghe and all the Sri Lankan people on the occasion of the 75th National Independence Day.
The congratulatory message was handed over to the President by Mrs. Victoria Nuland, Vice Secretary of State for Political Affairs of the United States, when she met President Ranil Wickremesinghe at the Presidential Office recently.
Mr. Joe Biden has also mentioned in the message that he will continue to strengthen the long-term friendship and vision between the United States and Sri Lanka for the peaceful, prosperous, and secure future of the people of both countries.
The US President has indicated that the 75th anniversary of diplomatic relations between the United States and Sri Lanka will coincide with Sri Lanka’s 75th National Independence Celebration and that this long-term relationship will help advance regional and global peace and prosperity.
Mr. Joe Biden recalls that throughout history, both countries have faced formidable global challenges, including fighting climate change, curbing human trafficking, and maintaining a safe, free, and open Indo-Pacific region.
In his congratulatory message, Mr. Biden further indicated that the relations between Sri Lanka and democratic countries as the United States are strengthened by solidarity, freedom, and equality.
