The bodies of a dolphin and five turtles were piled on the beaches of Chilaw and Aluthgama today (14).
Those animals are believed to be dead as a result of the Express Pearl ship fire.
The Secretary to the Ministry of Wildlife Somaratne Vidanapathirana stated that the bodies of more than 30 turtles and five dolphins have been found on the beaches after the fire on the ship.
The bodies of the animals were piled at Wellawatte, Dehiwala, Moratuwa, Egoda Uyana, Panadura, Kosgoda, Induruwa, Galle, Unawatuna, Kudawella, Marawila and Thuduwa beaches.
He also states that legal action will be taken under the Wildlife Ordinance against the company that owns the ship.
