Deputy Director General of Health Services, specialist Dr. Hemantha Herath states that “When looking at the data collected internationally, by comparing the daily number of Covid 19 patients in the country with the population ratio, it appears infection count in Sri Lanka is higher than that found in India.”
Dr. Hemantha Herath says that there has been an unexpected increase in the number of Covid patients in Sri Lanka after the New Year. He also states that maximum measures will be taken to maintain it without allowing it to increase further.
He also says that he observes a decrease in the number of covid infections in the country. But he says he expects a slight increase in the next few days. He added that there would then be a gradual decrease.
