Mr. Ranil Wickramasinghe said that in order to protect the business community in Sri Lanka, the possibility of loan deferment will be looked into and the necessary concessions will be provided to the businessmen.
The President also mentioned that he informed the Governor of the Central Bank to take further steps in this regard.
President Ranil Wickramasinghe said this while addressing the “Pratibha Abhisheka 2022” event held at the Kingsbury Hotel yesterday (11) afternoon at the Women’s Chamber of Industry and Commerce, to evaluate women entrepreneurs.
Awards were presented under four categories namely provincial, national, SAAC regional and special, and the national level and special awards were presented by President Ranil Wickramasinghe.
The President also said that although we are facing a very critical situation as a country, the path to bring the country’s economy in the right direction by overcoming those challenges has been opened for us this year.
The President said that the discussions on debt restructuring have made successful progress and said that the support of the International Monetary Fund can be obtained in the future, and the World Bank and the Asian Development Bank will also provide loans.
The President also said that the government has focused on the restructuring of non-profit public institutions, and all these measures have been taken for the sake of building economic stability in the country.
The President also emphasized the importance of everyone’s commitment to building a country with a developed economy that can compete with the world by creating new business opportunities in a stable economy.
Senior Professor Maithri Wickramasinghe, Nepalese Ambassador Bashu Dev Mishra, British Acting High Commissioner Lisa Vanstol and the Chairperson of Women’s Chamber of Industry and Commerce Mrs. Anoji De Silva were present on this occasion.
