A Sri Lankan fishing boat with more than 200 kilos of heroin smuggled from Pakistan to Sri Lanka by sea has been arrested along with 08 suspects.
About 140 kilos of heroine was hidden in four gas tanks.
Several boats have gone to international waters to haul the heroin. The raid was carried out by the Police Narcotics Bureau and the State Intelligence with the assistance of the Navy.
According to police sources, the suspects and the vessels have been brought to Mirissa with narcotics. The value of this heroin stock is over Rs. 2 billion.
Gas cylinders have been cut out and heroine was taken out. Packing the heroin to gas cylinders was done in Pakistan.
It has been revealed that the boat had gone to sea on May 11 for fishing and had brought the heroin.
