    A cyclist dies after being hit by state minister Sanath Nishantha’s jeep

    The cyclist, who was in hospital, after colliding with the jeep in which the Minister of State for Water Supply Mr. Sanath Nishantha was traveling has died.

    The accident took place on the evening of the 15th at the Urumas junction on the Puttalam-Kurunegala road. The state minister was traveling in the jeep when the accident happened.

    The cyclist, who collided with the jeep that was being used by the state minister belonging to the Ministry of Water Supply, died yesterday while receiving treatment in the hospital for two weeks with serious injuries.

    S. M. Sihan, a resident of Puttalam Lake Road, has died this way. The police say that Puttalam police arrested the driver of the jeep named W. Romesh Salinda Fernando who is a resident of Pallama on the day of the accident. He is currently on bail after being produced in court. The police say that they will once again arrest him in connection with this death and take steps to present him in court.
