According to the National Audit Office, a special audit was initiated based on the order allowing the examination of the two fundamental rights petitions filed claiming that the fundamental rights of the people had been violated due to the wrong economic management decisions taken under the government of former President Gotabhaya Rajapaksa.

Auditor General Mr. W. P. C. Wickramaratne mentioned that the relevant investigation is underway based on the Supreme Court order.

A team headed by a Deputy Auditor General has been assigned for that purpose.

Keeping the dollar at Rs. 203, as well as the delay in getting assistance from the International Monetary Fund, will be audited there in connection with the repayment of 500 million US dollars of sovereign bonds on January 18 of this year.

The Auditor General mentioned that information related to the relevant audit will be obtained from the Central Bank of Sri Lanka and the Treasury.
