    A task force for nutrition

    The Ministry of Health has decided to establish a special task force for nutrition.

    This step was taken in a discussion held yesterday in the Ministry of Health to discuss the nutrition of the people in the country.

    A group of doctors and experts in clinical Nutritionology were present for the relevant task force.

    A group of doctors with expert knowledge in the respective fields including Nutritionology will be appointed as members of the task force.

    Along with this, the 2022-2024 emergency nutrition plan will be implemented and it will be implemented across the island in various categories including the respective age groups.

    As a preliminary step, the relevant nutrition project is to be implemented in one province of the island in the next week, and then the Minister of Health gave instructions to implement it all over the island.

    Since nutrition month (October) has already started, the Ministry of Health has now taken steps to implement the programs for it all over the island.

    The Minister also gave instructions to make the feeding program of every hospital in the island efficient so as to maintain nutritional quality without any deficiency by paying attention to food safety in the hospital.

    Along with this program, under the supervision of the district secretaries and divisional secretaries in all the districts throughout the island, it was decided to focus on making this program more efficient by identifying families in need through rural government officials, and to get the cooperation of other ministries such as agriculture, trade, education and fisheries related to this.

    Health Minister Keheliya Rambukwella said that during the global covid disaster, every person in the health service regardless of rank considered it as a national task and dedicated themselves to it.

    Health Minister Dr. Keheliya Rambukwella has instructed to take steps to establish the task force headed by the Director General of Health Services.
