Mr. Harsha De Silva, Member of Parliament of Samagi Janbalawega, who was appointed as the Chairman of the COPE Committee or Public Business Committee, has announced today in the Parliament that he will resign from that position.
It was by Mr. Sajith Premadasa, the leader of the opposition and the leader of the Samagi Jana Balawegaya.
It is also special that the leader of the opposition presented the name of Mr. Charita Herath, an independent member of parliament from the ruling party, for the position of chairman of the COPE Committee.
Earlier, Mr. Charathi Herath held the position of the Chairman of the COPE Committee.
This time Mr. Charathi Herath was not nominated to the COPE committee.
