The nationwide power cut planned for today (27) has been extended to 3 hours.
It was due to the failure of the 3rd generating unit of the Norochcholai power plant.
However, the Public Utilities Commission expects to be able to reduce the power cut time to two hours and 20 minutes tomorrow.
That is taking into account the fuel stocks to be received at the power plants.
Power and Energy Minister Kanchana Wijesekera has said that it will take another three to five days to bring the third generator of the Norochcholai power plant back to normal.
