Chilaw Police have arrested a railway employee for allegedly stealing diesel from a parked train engine.
The arrest was made this morning (29).
He is a Railway Technician Assistant attached to the Chilaw Railway Station.
Police also seized 15 liters of diesel from the suspect.
An engine of a train scheduled to travel for Colombo on the morning of the 29th was parked at the Chilaw railway station.
Police say that the suspect had stolen fuel from the train engine.
The suspect was arrested following an investigation into a complaint lodged by the Railway Security Officers with the police.
The suspect is to be produced before the Chilaw Magistrate’s Court.
