A committee has been appointed to look into whether the government employees can be offered employment in the private sector or in other jobs on five years’ unpaid leave.
Secretary to the Ministry of Public Administration and Home Affairs M. M. P. K. Mayadunne stated that the report will be submitted within two weeks.
He said the seven-member committee had already begun its study.
The recommendations of the relevant report will be submitted to the Cabinet soon, he added.
Secretary to the Ministry of Education M. N. Ranasinghe has been appointed as the Chairman of this Committee.
The other members are Secretary to the Ministry of Environment Dr. Anil Jasinghe, Secretary to the Ministry of Justice, Prisons and Constitutional Reforms Mrs. Wasantha Perera, Secretary to the Ministry of Health Mr. S. S. Chandragupta, Secretary-General of the Ceylon Chamber of Commerce Mr. Manjula de Silva, Director General (Acting) of the Ceylon Service Agents Association Mr. Vajira Ellepola and the committee consists of Director-General of Managing Services or a representative of the Ministry of Finance.
Meanwhile, the Secretary to the Ministry of Public Administration, Home Affairs, Provincial Councils, and Local Government, M. M. P. K. Mayadunne, recently issued a circular No. 14/2022 in Public Administration granting government employees five years of unpaid leave without compromising their seniority and pensions
