The Sri Lanka Construction Association states that the price of a bag of cement will exceed Rs. 4,000 in the future.
Chairman of the association Susantha Liyanarachchi stated that the price of cement will increase with the increase of several taxes including VAT.
Meanwhile, the country’s leading confectionery companies have increased the prices of all products.
Accordingly, steps have been taken to increase the minimum price of a toffee from those companies to Rs. 10 and the minimum price of chocolate is to Rs. 80.
Local and foreign milk powder companies say that the price of milk powder will inevitably have to be increased again in the next few days due to the increase in taxes.
At present, a 400g packet of imported milk is sold at Rs. 1020 and a 1kg packet of milk at Rs. 2,545.
