Shashi Weerawansa has been sentenced to two years in prison has filled an appeal and the Colombo Magistrate’s Court directed the court to consider the petition tomorrow (31) filed by her lawyers seeking her release on bail.
Lawyers filed an appeal after she was sentenced to 02 years in prison last Friday.
The lawyers also requested the court to grant bail until the appeal is heard and the verdict is announced.
The court adjourned the hearing till today and issued a notice to the Attorney General to clarify his position on the request.
