An independent group of parliamentarians has decided to nominate three names for the post of Prime Minister to President Gotabhaya Rajapaksa.
Accordingly, it has been proposed to nominate Dr. Wijayadasa Rajapaksa, Dalasa Alahapperuma and Nimal Siripala de Silva.
If the main opposition Samagi Jana Balawega does not accept the post of Prime Minister, the independent group of the government has decided to take it.
The decision was taken at a meeting chaired by former President Maithripala Sirisena at Tiran Alles’ residence.
MPs Dayasiri Jayasekara, Lasantha Alagiyawanna, Mahinda Amaraweera, Wijayadasa Rajapaksa, Udaya Gammanpila and Tilan Alles were also present at the occasion.
