Property set on fire in Malwana is government-owned

Parliamentarian Wijedasa Rajapaksa says that it is not Basil’s property but a government property that has been set on fire by a group in Malwana.

He points out that it came under the control of the government in 2015 after he passed a resolution in Parliament as the then Minister of Justice.

“This is a property acquired by the government in 2015 without any compensation.

When it was said that the land and house in Malwana did not belong to Basil, I, as the then Minister of Justice, submitted a proposal to the Cabinet to take over the land and house to the Government. It is a government-owned property. Now it has been set on fire and destroyed.”
