A DIG who was hospitalized after being assaulted has been discharged from the Narahenpita Police Hospital today.
The DIG was assaulted at Maligawatte on the evening of the 9th.
The attack was carried out by a group of rioters who stopped the car in which he was traveling. Then they set fire to the police car in which he was traveling and destroyed it.
The DIG was rescued by a group of Muslim elders in Maligawatte.
