Prime Minister Mahinda Rajapaksa today (29) instructed the heads of the Kolonnawa government factory to take steps to manufacture vehicle number plates.
Vehicle number plates have so far been purchased from abroad.
It is estimated that the production of vehicle number plates in the country could save Rs. 1.44 billion annually.
The government has also taken steps to provide vehicle number plates to vehicle owners at a very low cost.
