The Supreme Court has issued a restraining order suspending the Cabinet decision taken during the Yahapalana government to provide former President Maithripala Sirisena with an official residence on Paget Road on a permanent basis.
The approval of this official residence by Sirisena in the Cabinet during his tenure as President was also heavily criticized in the society at that time.
Also, there was a lot of talk at the time about the Rs. 180 million demanded for the renovation of the house to be the official residence of the president, which used to be two adjoining houses for two ministers.
