Popular lyricist and teledrama producer Channa Jayanath passed away today (26).
A family member said he was died while being treated for Covid infection.
He has composed many popular songs including ‘Igilenna Thahanam nam Durak’, ‘Kavi See Pada Ahena Rata’,’ Sumudu Walawka Anduru Wela’,’ Mewalam Mokatada Metharam’, ‘Samawenna Raththarane’, ‘Sanda Yathra Kala Wage Mathakai’, ‘Sansara Sihinaye’, ‘Mage Duppath As deka’, ‘Sanda Rajiniye’, ‘Sepalika Malai’ and ‘Sudu Aralia Mala’.
Channa Jayanath has written lyrics for a number of cassettes produced by Nilwala for the Sunflower cassette wave which started in ’96.
Channa Jayanath is a father of two.
The last rites will be performed at the Borella Cemetery this afternoon (26).
