Member of Parliament for the opposition Harin Fernando caused a heated situation by the bringing of a torch to Parliament and parliament was adjourned for 10 minutes.
MP Harin Fernando informed the House that the torch had been brought to work today so that it could be used in the toilet when the power went out.
Thereafter, Minister Dinesh Gunawardena instructed the Speaker not to allow such equipment to enter the House as it could pose a threat to the security of the Members of Parliament.
There was a heated argument between Minister Dinesh Gunawardena and MP Harin Fernando in this regard.
