A senior CEB spokesman said that power outages long an hour or an hour and a half would take place in many parts of the island tonight.
He also said that the two power plants Kelanitissa and the Siat power plant have been shut down due to lack of diesel.
He said that a consignment of diesel for power generation was received this afternoon but it would take a few more hours for it to reach the power plants.
Therefore, the power supply will have to be cut off within a few hours today, he said.
