Five male youths were swept away by the waves while bathing at the Nanguram coastal line at Kapungoda beach in Dungalpitiya, Negombo last evening (01).
One youth has drowned and disappeared.
Police, with the help of local residents, rescued the four and hospitalized them.
Two were killed.
The victims were aged 17 and 23 and were residents of the Pamunugama and Ekala areas.
The other two were discharged from the hospital after receiving treatment.
The search for the other 21-year-old youth who went missing after drowning in the Ambewela area is currently underway.
