The Department of Immigration requests people to bring a clear national identity card when applying for a passport.
Immigration Controller Harsha Ilukpitiya suggested that applicants with unclear old National ID cards should obtain a new National ID card before applying for their passports. This will make the application process smoother and more efficient.
He also mentioned that it is the expectation of his department to issue a passport accepted by all countries.
