Maldives announces they is preparing to make a decision on banning Israelis from entering their country.
Accordingly, Maldives President Mohamed Muisu has decided to impose a ban on Israeli passports, a spokesperson from his office said in a statement, and he did not provide details on when the new law would come into effect.
Meanwhile, in response to the decision taken by the Maldives government, the Israeli Foreign Ministry has notified its citizens not to travel to the Maldives. The recommendation also includes Israelis with dual citizenship, the Israeli ministry said.
“For Israeli citizens already in the Maldives, it is recommended to consider leaving, because if they are affected for any reason, it will be difficult for us to support them,” the Israeli ministry said in a statement.
Foreign media reports that due to the ongoing conflicts in the Gaza Strip, the President of Maldives has been strongly influenced to prevent Israelis from coming to the Maldives and accordingly, he has taken this decision.
