The Coconut Development Authority (CDA) says that traders have increased the price of coconut oil without any reasonable reason.
Its chairman Professor Roshan Perera said that no tax increase has been made for imported coconut oil.
As of May this year, 42,000 metric tons of coconut oil has been imported, which is a double increase compared to last year.
Professor Roshan Perera stated that raising the price of coconut oil cannot be approved in any way as there is enough coconut oil in the country for consumption within the country.
Meanwhile, Chairman of Coconut Development Authority Professor Roshan Perera mentioned that a new regulatory program has been planned to be implemented to control the price of coconut oil in the market.
