A special discussion of the members of the ruling party was held at the Battaramulla WatersEdge Hotel yesterday (06) under the chairmanship of President Ranil Wickramasinghe.
Political sources said that there were discussions about future political affairs.
The President has emphasized that the presidential election will definitely be held in the future.
He has also mentioned that everyone should work together to win it.
The MPs have asked the President whether he will run for the presidential election.
Responding to that, the President has said that he will make a statement in this regard within the next few days.
31 members of the Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna have also participated in this discussion.
Apart from this, the presidents of the district coordination committees have also been invited, according to political sources.
However, the Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna’s National Organizer Namal Rajapaksa and its Secretary General Sagara Kariyawasam did not participate in the discussion, said the sources.
The president, who has reminded the country of the dangerous situation two years ago, has also told the MPs that the country is currently recovering from that dangerous situation.
