Steps have been taken to add additional buses to the state-service workers from today (09).
State Minister of Transport Dilum Amunugama says that there are not enough buses and that no bus can carry more passengers than its seating capacity.
Accordingly, SLTB buses will be operated as usual from today (09).
SLTB Chairman Kingsley Ranawaka says that employees should report to work as usual.
He was speaking at a media briefing in Colombo.
“Our buses have been running normally. The government has taken steps to reduce the number of employees in government institutions by about 50 percent to reduce the spread of the Covid virus through congestion on buses and in the workplace. If the public enters the roads in any way, the health sector advises us to use more buses as needed to enable them to maintain good health habits and maintain social distance. ”
