The Sri Lanka Medical Council (SLMC) says that Sri Lankan students wishing to go abroad for medical education should consider a number of factors when choosing a foreign medical college.
The Sri Lanka Medical Council also states that if a student wishes to return to Sri Lanka after completing his / her education, he or she should be selected only from a medical college approved by the Sri Lanka Medical Council.
The Institute also states that a medical graduate who obtains a degree from a medical college not recognized by the Sri Lanka Medical Council cannot engage in the medical service in Sri Lanka.
The official website of the Ceylon Medical Council states that lists of recognized foreign medical colleges have been published and will be updated every five years.
The Sri Lanka Medical Council (SLMC) says that forensic medicine is not taught in some foreign medical colleges and that attention should be paid to it.
The Medical Council also states that it is compulsory to obtain a medical degree from a foreign medical college and pass the ERPM Eligibility Test conducted by the Medical Council of Sri Lanka.
