Last week, the Computer Crimes Police arrested five boyfriends who posted nude and semi-nude photos and videos of their girlfriends that were taken during their relationship, on the internet in revenge after breaking up.
Police Media Spokesman Senior DIG Ajith Rohana stated that a 26-year-old resident of Pitakotte, a 26-year-old resident of Rajagiriya, a 36-year-old resident of Napamunuwa, Piliyandala, a 23-year-old resident of Poojapitiya, Kandy and a 31-year-old resident of Imbulgoda, Gampaha are among those arrested.
Ajith Rohana also said that there is a tendency to share photos exchanged on the internet and social media when the two are getting divorced and the girlfriend is remarrying. Ajith Rohana said that a large number of complaints were being received in this regard and that investigations were being carried out by the new Police Investigation Unit of the Police Department, the Computer Crimes Division.
