The trade union action launched by the teachers’ principals by withdrawing from online teaching also continued today (13).
The principals and the teachers state that they are engaged in this trade union action for several demands including protesting against the arrest of a group of trade union’s members who participated in the protest against the Kotelawala Defense University Act on the 8th, being taken into quarantine despite being granted bail by the court. Fourteen teachers’ unions are involved in the union action.
The General Secretary of the Ceylon Teachers’ Service Union Mahinda Jayasinghe stated that the strike was continued today as the government has not paid attention to their demands so far.
