Yesterday (27), former President Mahinda Rajapaksa advised the members of the Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna to refrain from commenting on the presidential candidates and how they should compete in the upcoming elections until an official statement is made by the party.
The former president mentioned this yesterday (27) when the executive council of the Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna met.
Further commenting there, the former president said that the Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna is already conducting surveys regarding the suitable presidential candidates for the party and how they should compete in the elections. He has also said that he is exchanging ideas with the party’s frontline leaders, activists, trade unions and civil organizations in this regard.
Therefore, it has been stated that if the MPs freely express their opinions regarding the presidential candidates and the manner in which they should compete in the elections, the program may be disrupted and conflicts may arise within the party.
Former President Mahinda Rajapaksa has further said that before commenting on the presidential election candidates, everyone should work hard to make the May Day celebration a success.
