A flood warning has been issued for the Mahaoya basin.
The National Disaster Management Center says that this warning is valid from this morning until tomorrow (21) at 10:00 am.
There is a possibility of major flooding in several low lying areas of Nilwala river valley in Alavwa, Divulapitiya, Mirigama, Pannala, Wennappuwa, Negombo, Katana, Narammala and Dankotuwa Divisional Secretariat Divisions.
It is requested to pay close attention of the residents of the area and the drivers of vehicles driving through the area.
