The board of the International Cricket Council (ICC) has decided to suspend Sri Lanka Cricket’s membership with immediate effect.
The organization announced that the ICC board met today and took this decision.
The grounds for the move are that Sri Lanka Cricket is in serious breach of its responsibilities as a member, in particular, the need to independently manage its affairs and its inability to ensure that there is no government interference in the governance, regulation and/or administration of cricket in Sri Lanka.
It has also been informed that the ICC Board will decide on the terms of membership suspension in the future.
