Habarana Police today (01) arrested an Army Major General for allegedly assaulting a wildlife officer on duty at the Minneriya National Park.
Police Media Spokesman Senior DIG Ajith Rohana stated that he had come to the Habarana Police Station this morning stating that he would voluntarily surrender to the police considering the damage being done to the reputation of the Army due to this incident.
The Major General who surrendered was arrested by the police and has been produced before the Kekirawa Magistrate’s Court, said Ajith Rohana.
Mr. Rohana further stated that the Habarana Police has received complaints from both parties regarding this incident and investigations are being carried out regarding both complaints.
