Increased fuel quota will be maintained further

It is decided to maintain the increased weekly fuel quota due to the new season until further notice.

It was observed at the petroleum corporation progress review meeting chaired by the Minister of Power and Energy Mr. Kanchana Wijesekera, yesterday morning that there will be no change in the monthly fuel order plan due to the increase in the fuel quota.

It has also been observed that the daily fuel consumption and fuel release data for the last three weeks is the same as the daily fuel release before the fuel quota was increased.

Also, after increasing the fuel quota, the misuse of QR code system has decreased significantly.

It has also been observed that people who bought fuel outside the QR code system have also adopted the QR system.

Before increasing the fuel quota, 24% had issued petrol outside the QR system.

He also observed that after increasing the fuel quota, it has gone down to 14%, and the release of diesel outside the QR system, which was 28%, has gone down to 15% after the increase of the fuel quota.

Also, the Minister instructed to conduct regular investigations regarding the filling stations that issue fuel outside of the QR code and to take action against the relevant filling stations and to cancel the filling station licenses of the distributors who continuously violate these regulations.
