The individual arrested in the Wellampitiya area for allegedly killing a Colombo University student at a racecourse in Colombo and running away is said to be the victim’s boyfriend.
The suspect came to the racecourse from the university with her at around 12.30 pm in the afternoon and was talking to her in a corner, cut her throat, and fled from the place at around 1.00 pm in the evening.
It has also been revealed that the suspected student ran to the university from the racecourse and then went to his home in Wellampitiya. Investigations revealed that he had left his mobile phone and ID at home.
A student named Chathuri Hansika Malilikarachchi (24), who was a resident of Homagama Kiriwaththuduwa, has been killed. She and the suspect were studying in their third year of the Faculty of Science.
It has been revealed that the suspect has also worked as a mathematics tuition class teacher to O/L students.
Many security cameras have recorded how this student ran away with the blood-stained knife after killing his girlfriend. A photo of that is shown below.
The student is now being questioned at length about what led him to kill his girlfriend.
