    Here’s what happened to a sergeant who took a police cash reward using fake documents

    A female police sergeant was arrested by the Peliyagoda Special Crime Investigation Unit yesterday (13) in connection with receiving the reward money given by the police headquarters for a successful raid, by using fabricated documents that she also participated in that criminal raid done by a group of Kadawata Police officers.

    When this officer was arrested, she was working in Ederamulla. She is said to have committed this fraud in 2020 while working at the Kadawatha Police Station.

    The raid related to the prize money was carried out in 2019. In 2020, she was attached to Kadawata Police for her duties and changed the police documents related to the raid, and using fake documents that she participated in it, she obtained an amount of Rs. 10,900 as a police reward.

    After informing the Kadawatha Police Station Commander about this, it was revealed that some fraud occurred during an investigation. Accordingly, he informed his superiors about it and complained to Peliyagoda Special Investigation Bureau.

    After an investigation by the Special Investigation Bureau, this police sergeant was arrested and presented to the Mahara Magistrate’s Court. There she was released on a surety bond of Rs. 500,000, and the case has been ordered to be called again on the 22nd.

    Measures have also been taken to suspend the officer in this regard.
