    Small and medium-sized tourist industry is calling for an extension of the Covid concessions

    The Small and Medium Enterprises Association (SLMEA) has called on the government to provide relief to small and medium enterprises (SMEs) affected by corona.

    He also called on the government to extend the loan repayment concession to tourism industry owners until 2021 and to eliminate arrears on electricity bills, water bills, provident funds and employee trust funds due from tourism companies.

    In addition to this, a request is made to the government to provide relief including the abolition of the 1% tax levied by local government bodies and the abolition of the Tourism Development Tax from 2009 to 2022, president of the Small and Medium Scale Tourism Association Mr. M. P. Jayaratne said.

    He added that 65% of the foreign exchange earned by the tourism industry in 2018 came from small and medium enterprises (SMEs)
