The Registrar General has notified all the Divisional Secretariats regarding the validity period of certified copies of birth, marriage and death records.
Notifying all relevant institutions and public to accept the validity period of a certified copy issued by the Registrar General without any limitation.
According to the Registrar General, it is observed that the public has been greatly motivated to obtain certified copies due to the fact that some institutions have indicated time limits on the validity period of certified copies of birth, marriage and death records issued by the Registrar General. (Eg :- that the certificate is valid only for a period of 06 months from the date of issue)
Accordingly, the ministries and departments of the Ministry of Education, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Department of Immigration and the Department of Registration of Persons have already been informed to accept the certified copies issued by the Registrar General without limiting any validity periods, in accordance with the provisions of all the Acts implemented by the Registrar General.
Therefore, the Registrar General informs that necessary arrangements should be made to inform all the clients who come to the Divisional Secretariat about this.
Accordingly, the Registrar General has been informed to arrange for the announcement prepared as shown below or an appropriate announcement to be displayed in all the Divisional Secretariat offices in a manner that is clearly visible to the public.
