The interim budget presented by President Ranil Wickremesinghe as the Minister of Finance for the coming period of this year has been passed in Parliament today with 115 majority votes.
120 votes were also received in favour of the budget.
There were only 5 votes against.
43 MPs have abstained from voting.
The National People’s Party and the Tamil Organization voted against the budget.
Samagi Jana Balawegaya, the group of MP Dullas Alahapperuma who joined the opposition from the Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna and Wimal Weerawansa and the group from the previous independent government abstained from voting for it.
